Behind the screen

Welcome to Pastel Inspire

Since 2013, I have been sharing my art regularly online, in whatever form it may take. Over the years, I've been inspired by chibis, Disney cartoons, Impressionist artists and more, but colour has always been something that's fasinated me.

I've been lucky enough to enjoy many new opportunities through my art and have met multiple friends for life. Some highlights in my life so far have been presenting one of my paintings to Professor Lord Robert Winston, becoming an official Instagram Ambassador (making the platform a better place for young people) and working with various start-ups/student groups to make their artistic vision a reality.

Since 2013, Jenny has been sharing her artwork online, primarily through Instagram. Her blog, launched in 2017, regularly publishes new art and study-based content, now attracting well over 2000 viewers a month (as of August 2020).

The Pastel Inspire blog has become a popular source of help and guidance to students, in particular those studying GCSE Art or completing an EPQ. We also welcome guest submissions from those interested in sharing their knowledge of art with others (get in contact via email!). Written by young people, for young people, articles vary from study and creator advice to product reviews.

Jennifer Leigh is an undergraduate student studying Mathematics at Durham University. A recipient of multiple young artist awards, such as the 'Nancy Rothwell Award' and the 'Living Edge Art Competition', Jenny regularly experiments with new media and compositions in order to grow as both an artist and designer.

Jenny has completed various artworks for social events and publicity campaigns, including posters for student theatre companies. She has also ventured beyond fine art, completing graphic design projects for start-up companies, such as brochure templates and logo design. As a passionate ambassador for young creators online, Jenny has worked with companies SnapRevise, Ohh Deer, Instagram and more, through brand partnerships and influencer schemes.
