It can often be difficult to decide what art supplies you can afford to take on holiday - which are most portable, least likely to get damaged and still suitable to create stunning artworks on-the-go.
I've compiled a list of my absolute essentials for sketching when travelling abroad, from basic pencils and paper to cheat methods to create your own watercolour paintings.
Half-tone, mid-tone or simply coloured paper, call it what you will, has been used in the art world for centuries as a base for some of the most famous artworks. Many artists start a painting with a basic wash of coloured paint whereas some pastel artists choose to work on brown or grey pastel paper to get the most contrast possible.
Art trades are such a great opportunity to get to know other artists in the online community. It can be a bit scary to ask someone you look up to if you can exchange art requests, but you have the opportunity to get gorgeous art while also getting past that first communication barrier. This is not the only reason to do an art trade, however; many pen pals actually exchange art packages on a regular basis, and others may trade pre-drawn art at various conventions.
